The second year for the OCMD St. Patty’s Day Boardwalk 5K!  Same course Starting on the Boardwalk behind  Shenanigan’s Irish Pub and Grille on 4th St.  This years race will be on March 17, 2012 with a 9:oo am start time.

If you choose to mail in your registration it will not be complete unitl we receive your completed form with fee and have processed it.  This usually takes approximately 7-10 days from post mark date.  Once this occurs your name will appear on the confirmation list.

Online registrations are processed immediately and your name will appear on confirmation list in a few hours.

We will be accepting registrations on the morning of the event at Shenanigans Bar and Grill, but we cannot guarantee you an event shirt or any other give a ways if you choose to wait to register.  Event Shirts and Give A Ways are only guaranteed to Pre Registered participants who register before Feb. 27, 2012.

RACE FEES
$28.00 for all registrations until February 20, 2011 midnight.
$38.00 for all registrations thereafter.

Wednesday March 13
12:00am:  Online registration closes
Friday March 16
5:30pm – 8:00pm:  Packet pickup and late registration at Shenanigan’s Irish Pub and Grille
Saturday March 17
7:15am – 8:30am:  You can pick up your race packet and day of registration.
8:45am – 8:55am:  Start corral line up and nat’l anthem.
9:00am – 10:00am:  5K race.
10:00am – 10:15am:  Award ceremony.
9:30am – ??????:  Post race celebration.

TIMING SYSTEM

This race will be timed by the IPICO computer chip timing system.  You will receive your chip along with instructions on how to properly attach it to your shoe lace when you pick up your race packet.  This chip must be attached to your shoe.  If you place this chip in your pocket, or any where else on you it  will not be read by the computer chip sensor reader and you will not receive a time.  These chips are not disposable and will be collected immediately after crossing the finish line.  There is a $25.00 charge to anyone who does not return their chip, no exceptions.  In order for us to record a correct race please follow these guidelines:
have your chip on race day at start of race.  No chip, No time!
make sure your chip is securely attached to your shoe lace.
do not swap chips with any other runners.
do not cross start/finish line prior to race start.

RACE BIBS

Your race bib must be securely fastened to the front of your body at the start and all during your race.  Make sure your number is clearly displayed.  Our volunteers, staff, and photographer will need this number to identify you.  Your bib comes with a perforated bottom tag, please do not remove this tag as it is used to help keep track of your time.  These tags will be collected as you cross finish line.  Your bib also acts as your ticket to any post race activities so please do not remove, trade, or tare your bib after finishing your race.

AWARDS AND AGE GROUPING

Award medals will be given to the following 5K runners:

1st and 2nd place overall male
1st and 2nd place overall female
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place male and female in each of the following age groups:
under 15 * 15-19 * 20-29 * 30-39 * 40-49 * 50-59 * 60-69 * 70+
Awards will not be mailed, no exceptions.  If you place please stick around for award ceremony.

DIRECTIONS

From Baltimore / DC area:
Once on US50 head east across Bay Bridge onto eastern shore.  US50 will take you directly into Ocean City, MD.  After entering city, make left on Baltimore Ave. to 4th st. Shenanigan’s Bar & Grill and boardwalk race starting area on 4th st.
From Dover area:
Once on US113 head south into Maryland to US 50.  Take US50 east into Ocean City, MD.  After entering city, make left on Baltimore Ave. to 4th st.  Shenanigan’s Bar & Grill and boardwalk race starting area on 4th st.
From Richmond / Virginia Beach area:
Once on I64 east head to US13 north.  Take US13 north across Cheasapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel into Maryland.  After entering Maryland merge onto US113 to US50 east.  Take US50 east into Ocean City, MD.  Make left on Baltimore Ave. to 4th st.  Shenanigan’s Bar & Grill and boardwalk race starting area on 4th st.
From Philadelphia/New York area:
Once on I95 south go to US1 south towards Delaware Beaches.  US1 and US113 merge, stay on to US50 east into Ocean City, MD.  After entering city make left on Baltimore Ave. to 4th st. to Shenanigan’s Bar & Grill and boardwalk race starting area.

RACE RULES AND PROHIBITED ITEMS ON COURSE

This race will follow all USATF competition rules.  These rules can be found at www.usatf.org/about/rules.
The following items are not permitted on course during the race:
no in-line skates or rollerblades.
no pets of any kind.
no strollers, only baby jogger are permitted.
no music devices such as mp3 players or ipods.
Anyone found in violation of these rules will be removed from course.

PARKING
Minimal parking at Shenanigan’s as well as parking on street.

Photography will be provided by “not yet announced”.

REFUND/TRANSFER POLICY

Entry fees are non refundable and non transferable for this event, no exceptions.  Once we have received and processed your registration information all entries are final.

COURSE MAP

The St. Patty’s Day Boardwalk 5K will start on Ocean City’s famous Boardwalk.  Heading south toward the inlet runners will travel the boardwalk till you reach the white tran station turn around point.  From here you will head north approximately 100 yards making a right turn up and around the carnival pier then making another right heading north again up the boardwalk.  Staying north on the boardwalk, passing the starting area at Shenanigan’s, get a swig of water, and continue on to your second turn around point at 16th street.  Now head south back to Shenanigan’s where you will finish your 5k.
